The Linen Woven by the Breath of the Black Sea
Feretiko is a traditional handwoven linen fabric from the coastal towns of the Black Sea, crafted from flax fibres grown in the region’s cool, humid air.
It breathes with the rhythm of the sea and wind — a fabric that is strong, pure, and beautifully alive.
With every use, Feretiko softens and matures, revealing the quiet wisdom of nature in its weave.
Once an essential part of daily life in Rize and the surrounding villages, Feretiko now stands as a rare reminder of Anatolia’s sustainable textile heritage — a fabric shaped by patience and integrity.
I, Fırat Neziroğlu, reinterpret this modest yet noble fabric through a contemporary design perspective, keeping its natural texture and spirit intact.
By bringing Feretiko into modern silhouettes and experimental forms, I aim to continue its story — a story woven with the sea’s breath, the weaver’s hand, and the resilience of Anatolia.
