Fabric Specifications

This %50 cotton - %50 wool fabric (570 g/m², 60 cm width) combines strength, offering a soft natural texture and timeless quality.

A Heritage of the Thrace Region

The Karacakılavuz Twill Weave originates from Tekirdağ’s Karacakılavuz village, a place long recognised as one of Turkey’s historic weaving centres.
This traditional fabric is woven on handlooms using pure cotton yarns, producing a fine yet strong structure distinguished by its diagonal rhythm — the hallmark of twill weaving.

Each piece carries the memory of the artisans who shaped it, reflecting the steady tempo of the shuttle and the enduring patience of craft.
The subtle play of light across its surface gives Karacakılavuz fabrics their quiet elegance — both modest and timeless.

Colours of Simplicity

Traditionally, the weavers of Karacakılavuz preferred earthy tones and muted contrasts, obtained from plant-based natural dyes.
These colours mirror the region’s landscape — the wheat fields, the soil after rain, and the soft grey of the Marmara horizon.
Every hue is the result of slow dyeing, careful rinsing, and the unspoken rhythm passed from one generation to the next.

Design and Continuity

As a textile designer, I am deeply inspired by the precision and quiet harmony of Karacakılavuz weaving.
I support the revival of this heritage by collaborating with local weavers, helping to sustain production and bring its understated beauty into a contemporary design context.

Each thread, each diagonal line is not only a technical choice but a way of keeping tradition alive through design.
