At the heart of our exploration into traditional and contemporary textiles lies FN Peace Silk (Barış İpeği) — a fabric that embodies not only exceptional tactile beauty but also a deep ethical commitment. This is not just silk; it is silk born from compassion, respect for life, and a harmonious relationship with nature.

Peace Silk represents a method of silk production in which silkworms are allowed to complete their life cycle and emerge as butterflies from their cocoons, rather than being harmed in the traditional boiling process. This cruelty-free approach is sometimes called “ahimsa silk”, deriving from a philosophy of non-violence and mindful creation.

FN Peace Silk is woven with this same intention. Together with linen and hemp — fibres equally rooted in the earth and in generations of Anatolian craft — this silk forms part of the ipekten collection, a capsule of textiles that speaks to a design grounded in nature, ethical production, and human connection.

Each metre of FN Peace Silk tells a story of patience and presence: the hand of the maker guided by the pulse of life, the quiet rhythm of the loom, and the subtle interplay of silk with its complementary fibres. As a designer, I have embraced this material not only for its luxurious softness and natural sheen but for what it stands for — a textile that resonates with our values of sustainability, respect for living beings, and contemporary cultural expression.
